“Villa Samudra Raya” is set in a quiet compound less than 300 meters from the main road in the center of Seminyak, the area between Legian/Seminyak and kerobokan. The international airport is about 15 minutes away.
Many interesting shops are right on the main street near the villa; it’s about 1km to the beach, and a few minutes by car bring you to an increasing number of fashionable restaurants including Café Warisan, Ku de Ta, Hu’u, The Living Room, blossom , La Luciola, Trattoria, Mykonos, etc.

The Villa
Villa Samudra Raya is elegant in design centering around two large swimming pools with large open spaces surrounding by natural light, tropical gardens and stone fixtures giving the villa a feeling of absolute tranquility.
There are four large bedrooms and one child’s rooms and spacious dining and living areas, perfect for entertaining.
The living space/dining room opens to a garden full of lush tropical plants and a 12 meters family swimming pool. The use of large bi fold doors give a feeling of spaciousness and a huge timber dinning table for 10 and day bed for six make this area unforgettable.

Bedrooms
The air-conditioned Master Suite features a warm timber floor and sliding glass doors on three sides under a high roof. The modern furnishings include a king-size four poster bed, a couch and a desk and chair.

A flat screen TV with DVD is hidden within a rising cabinet that appears at the press of a button. This bedroom is complemented by a spacious timber balcony, which looks across the river to the rice terraces beyond. Here, two cushioned daybeds provide the facility for complete relaxation.

A dressing area and wardrobes (complete with a safe deposit box) are built in behind the bed and linked to the en-suite air-conditioned bathroom, which features a black terrazzo floor and twin washbasins upon a central vanity unit with two mirrors. A toilet and walk-in raindrop shower are located in two separate cubicles with frosted glass doors. The bathroom extends into a large and private walled garden planted with travellers’ palms, spider lilies and torch ginger. Here, a romantic oversized bathtub rests in the open air, sheltered from the elements by the overhanging roof. There is also an open-air shower.

Suites 2 & 3 are located in the family building. Suite 2 is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a double bed if required, while Suite 3 presents a king-size bed. Similar in style to the Master Suite with glass on two sides, both suites feature cool terrazzo floors and are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, daybeds, reading lights, iPod docking stations, safe deposit boxes, desks and chairs.

Both suites feature a private dressing and vanity area, each with wardrobes, double washbasins, an indoor shower and a toilet. A staircase leads down under the Dining Pavilion to a small ‘spill-over’ room, which can sleep up to five kids. It is fitted with bunk beds and is also suitable for a children’s nanny. There is a bathroom next door with a toilet, shower and washbasin.

Puri Bawana Living Pavilion
The magnificent Living Pavilion presides over the property. It is flanked by a terrace laid with grass-edged Palimanan paving stones, and overlooks the swimming pool, terraced gardens and rice fields. This open-sided pavilion is modelled upon the traditional Balinese Wantilan, or village meeting place, with a soaring, two-tiered roof supported by pillars, complete with pendulous lanterns and ceiling fans above a mint-white sandstone floor. The expansive space is furnished with two comfortable sofas, ottomans, a coffee table, a decorative, antique Javanese daybed, and a pair of white coconut shell chairs with a small matching table. The Living Pavilion is linked to the rest of the villa by a covered, colonnaded walkway with black and white chequered tiles. Off the walkway is situated a guest washroom decorated with Indian stone tiles and accessed by a colourful, antique Balinese door.

Puri Bawana Dining Pavilion
The open-sided Dining Pavilion is elevated above a high buttresses composed of indigenous serai stone, portraying a geometric jigsaw of shapes. A long suar wood dining table seats up to 14 dinner guests. The pavilion is cooled by natural breezes and ceiling fans and commands fabulous views of the bordering rice fields.

Puri Bawana Kitchens
There are two fully equipped kitchens at Puri Bawana Estate servicing the villa, one is the service kitchen and the other is a state-of-the-art kitchen positioned next to the dining pavilion and linked by a large service bar. This immaculate, designer kitchen reveals a discriminating taste for functional beauty and cutting-edge style. Crafted in black marble with a central island, silver grey units and glassless shuttered windows, it is equipped with a hob, oven, wine fridge, coffee machine and other high tech appliances. There is even the provision of a sound system.

Puri Bawana TV & Entertainment Room
Also located under the Dining Pavilion, is the air-conditioned TV and Entertainment Room. The room is equipped with a ceiling fan, teak wall units, and a large satellite TV mounted upon the wall, complete with surround sound, a DVD/CD player, and a Wii Game System. The furnishings?two large sofas, a glass-topped antique coffee table and two ottomans?can be pushed back against the wall to create an impressive party space. In one corner is a bar that can double as a DJ’s nook. Glass doors open from the Entertainment Room onto a terrace with a pergola supported by serai stone pillars beside the pool deck. The swimming pool is 30 metres in length, incorporating a kids’ pool at one end. It is lined with rustic blue Java stone and the curved infinity edge follows the contour of the rice terraces. The Palimanan stone pool deck is furnished with sun loungers and there is an open-sided ‘bale’, relaxation pavilion, positioned within the pool and accessed by stepping stones. Additionally, a raised walkway leads to an elevated bale, a traditional lazy, breezy gazebo with a thatched roof, open sides and a cushioned floor. There is an outdoor dining table with seats for 8, that is often used for outdoor barbecues and casual daytime dining. This is the place to relax, contemplate and meditate, overlooking the river and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, butterflies and birds. Style

Our villa which is one of the newest in Bali, having been completed in January 2003, was designed and constructed by the well-known company, DG Jones, builders of the Four Seasons Hotel in Bali as well as a number of other villas which are the highest standard on the island.

The property is designed around a traditional Balinese-style open-sided living room that leads to the pool deck and 18m pool. There is a master suite consisting of bedroom, bathroom and sitting room (air-conditioned) and two verandahs, a principal guest suite, and three further bedrooms, all with private, outdoor-garden bathrooms.

We also have an upper-floor verandah-style living room overlooking the whole property as well
benefiting frm panoramic views of the river and rice-fields. There is a separate formal dining
room overlooking the pool and the rice-paddies as well as an informal outdoor dining-deck next to the pool.

The gardens are extensive and provide space, serenity and views that complement the atmosphere of this traditionally-styled and private compound.

The sources of fresh food in Bali are wide and extensive in terms of locally grown aswell as imported varieties.

Staff

We have an in-house villa manager who oversees the work of all the staff as well as arranging all other services such as restaurant bookings, trips, tours, any shopping that is needed etc. 2 additional ladies reside at the villa and are available at all times. Laundry is done in-house and dry-cleaning is sent out. Additional staff are made available at the villa to complement the number of people staying at any one time such that rooms are maintained in perfect condition at all times. 3 security staff attend the house and grounds at night.

Batubelig Beach is quiet and peaceful, while Seminyak Beach is the playground of the rich and famous; the spot where the local and expatriate communities gather every evening to enjoy Bali’s legendary sunsets. Villa Asta is located 25 minutes from the international airport, and is also convenient for all of the main shopping malls, Waterbom Park, and tourist attractions such as the dramatic and venerated Tanah Lot sea temple, perched on a craggy wave-lashed rock at the edge of the foaming white surf of the Indian Ocean.

The Villa is nestled in the heart of the Batubelig area, less than 10 minutes walk to the beach on Bali’s south-western coast, and just a few minutes drive from the trendy Seminyak area, with its glamorous lifestyle and wide choice of top, internationally-acclaimed restaurants.

Rooms

Villa Asta was designed by the internationally-acclaimed architect, Guy Morgan, with sumptuous interiors and landscaping by Dean Kempnich. The property is entered through an ornately framed wooden doorway, behind which stands a Balinese Hindu feature known as the “aling aling” a short screen wall devised to protect the property from troublesome and malign influences, because evil spirits have great difficulty in turning corners! A waterfall cascades into the pool producing a glass like view across the pool to the feature bale. This also has the effect of producing gasps of surprise and delight from the guests as they step past the wall and view the property for the first time. Boasting contemporary minimalist architecture and a tropical open-living concept with Balinese influences, Villa Asta is comprised of 4 separate living, dining and sleeping pavilions. The warm teak wood floors, richly grained coconut wood pillars, creamy white Palimanan stone terraces, cool marble fixtures, slate floors, and random rock walls form the dominant components, juxtaposed against koi (fish) ponds, water spouts and the natural greenery of Bali’s exotic plants.

The sleeping pavilion houses 2 air-conditioned double bedrooms complete with en-suite bathrooms, and a pool terrace. Each bedroom has a soaring thatched roof and is furnished with a canopied 4-poster king-size bed, a comfortable built-in window seat and is complete with a 29-inch plasma TV. Each is tastefully decorated with bold colours, rich fabrics and bright scatter cushions, local artwork and artefacts. Sliding glass doors lead into the private garden bathrooms, each one dominated by a splendid, oversized, marble bathtub as its central feature, and sheltered from the elements by the eaves of the roof. The plunge pool can be accessed by exterior bathrooms doors, thus avoiding the need to walk through the bedrooms.

Three further bedrooms and the games room are located at the far end of the garden, away from the main living areas. This 2- storey pavilion houses 3 bedrooms downstairs. Each of the air conditioned bedrooms can be made up with either king size beds or twin beds. Both configurations also feature 2 rollaway beds. The bedrooms are accessed by sliding glass doors from a colonnaded terrace, and each boasts a walk-in wardrobe, an en-suite garden bathroom with toilet, shower, washbowl, vanity unit, and a traditional “mandi” – an outdoor urn fed by a waterspout.

Sliding opaque glass doors lead from the dining area into an air-conditioned den. This cosy snug is furnished with deeply cushioned lounges and a big lazy chair. It also doubles as an office, and is equipped with a built-in desk and fitted cupboards, a computer with Internet access, a printer, a 32-inch plasma TV with over 25 satellite channels, DVD and a high quality sound system linked to speakers in the living and dining areas. The walls are graced with colourful local artwork and artifacts.

Living Pavilions
The living pavilion is open on 4 sides and features a soaring alang alang thatched roof supported by coconut wood pillars above a cream Palimanan stone floor. Ceiling fans and gentle breezes keep this area cool; it is tastefully furnished with a cushioned rattan sofa, chairs, and a glass topped rattan table. This pavilion is also linked to the central music system with surround speakers in the roof.

Dining Pavilions

The open-sided dining pavilion is furnished with a long table which seats up to 18, boasting padded chairs and an orange theme. Cooled by natural breezes it also features a teak wood floor, paddle fans and pendulous lanterns suspended from its pitched roof. Ideal for entertaining, this ample pavilion is linked to a quality music system with surround speakers in the roof.

Adjacent to the dining pavilion is a fully equipped, open-air service kitchen, characterised by a slate floor, teak cupboards, and black marble work surfaces. Here, the chef will prepare delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and refreshments, in accordance with guest requirements. The marble bar, complete with bar stools, is a great place for enjoying a casual breakfast or socialising with friends.

Games Rooms

The semi open-air games room is a huge wooden deck with a thatched roof, located above the guest bedrooms and presents beautiful rice field views. Equipment includes a computer (with internet access), DVD, pool table, a ping pong table, and a 42-inch wall-mounted plasma TV.

Pool & Bale

The immaculate garden is dominated by a dramatic freeform swimming pool. Shallow layers within the pool step down into the deepest 5-metre section, immediately beneath a 3-metre-high, 2-storey bale relaxation pavilion. Shaded by a thatched roof, this elevated, double-decker pavilion offers spectacular rice field views from the top. A circular timber deck rests beside the pool, complete with sunloungers and umbrellas.

Facilities

Villa Asta is supported by a carefully selected team of highly trained, friendly staff who will do their best to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. The team is headed by a villa manager who will oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and is available to assist guests during their stay. The team also includes an in-house chef, butlers, housekeepers, gardeners, and security guards. The chef is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. The housekeepers fulfil all of the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge.

Tropical Outdoor Attributes

The villa is accessed through a heavy timber entrance gate that leads directly into a garden compound with stone pathways edged in tropical flora. A generous sized swimming pool is the centerpiece of the property and is enveloped by a sundeck, a pair of fragrant frangipani trees and several reclining sun-loungers. A traditional thatched pavilion, adorned with plump cushions and sheer curtains that waft in the breeze, is a shady niche for lazy afternoon naps.

There are plenty of terraced areas featured throughout Villa Kampung where guests can sit quietly to read or seek private time alone if desired. Social Dining Area

A separate dining pavilion and integrated kitchen facility caters especially for extended groups and entertaining. This setting is dominated by a magnificent dining table that has been crafted out of a single piece of timber to accommodate 12 guests in a formal seating arrangement. The sleek kitchen is equipped with top-of-the-range stainless steel appliances and a double door refrigerator to enable convenient meal preparation. An elegant dresser is used to store all necessary tableware and fills this entire area with rustic charm.

Private Bedroom Suites

A total of six bedroom suites in three separate dwellings have been orientated to instill a sense of privacy for every guest. Different room configurations with classically inspired furnishings, ornate carved doors and eye-catching pieces of artwork display flair and originality. Each bedroom features an individually styled canopied double bed with crisp cotton linen, a personalized sitting area and ensuite bathroom with either a sunken tub, shower recess or both facilities for leisurely bathing rituals. The grounds are beautifully grassed and maintained. The wonderful 15 meter long swimming pool is lined with green stone with a white Palimanan stone surround.
