Generously designed to maximize space and privacy on 1500 square metres, the shingle-roof property offers the best of tropical island living with all creature comforts. Villa Kavya Accommodation

Bedrooms Villa Kavya has 4 light and airy bedrooms, 3 with king-sized beds and 1 with twin beds. The layout of the bedrooms maximizes space as well as privacy. All bedrooms have contemporary en-suite bathrooms with two sinks and showers, and large wooden walking wardrobes.

The master bedroom takes up the complete second floor of the villa. It features a king-sized four-poster bed draped in white voile. Big French doors open onto a generous private terrace overlooking the garden and pools and offering glimpses of the ocean. The large walking wardrobe and the contemporary bathroom both have a view of surrounding rice-fields.

The first guest bedroom has a large comfortable king-size bed wrapped in white voile. Its open-air bathroom includes a dramatic stone-hewn bathtub on a private separate patio. This bedroom also has its own seating area opening onto the central garden.

The second bedroom has twin beds and a small working area with a desk and shelves, as well as an en-closed bathroom, thereby making it ideal for children.

Bedrooms
The air-conditioned Master Suite features a warm timber floor and sliding glass doors on three sides under a high roof. The modern furnishings include a king-size four poster bed, a couch and a desk and chair.

A flat screen TV with DVD is hidden within a rising cabinet that appears at the press of a button. This bedroom is complemented by a spacious timber balcony, which looks across the river to the rice terraces beyond. Here, two cushioned daybeds provide the facility for complete relaxation.

A dressing area and wardrobes (complete with a safe deposit box) are built in behind the bed and linked to the en-suite air-conditioned bathroom, which features a black terrazzo floor and twin washbasins upon a central vanity unit with two mirrors. A toilet and walk-in raindrop shower are located in two separate cubicles with frosted glass doors. The bathroom extends into a large and private walled garden planted with travellers’ palms, spider lilies and torch ginger. Here, a romantic oversized bathtub rests in the open air, sheltered from the elements by the overhanging roof. There is also an open-air shower.

Suites 2 & 3 are located in the family building. Suite 2 is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a double bed if required, while Suite 3 presents a king-size bed. Similar in style to the Master Suite with glass on two sides, both suites feature cool terrazzo floors and are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, daybeds, reading lights, iPod docking stations, safe deposit boxes, desks and chairs.

Both suites feature a private dressing and vanity area, each with wardrobes, double washbasins, an indoor shower and a toilet. Suites 4 & 5 are housed within a two-storey building and each is equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, daybeds, reading lights, iPod docking stations, safe deposit boxes, desks and chairs. Suite 4 is located on the lower level and is similar to the other suites with a king size bed and the additional provision of a walk-in wardrobe, a teak shelf unit, a floating vanity unit with double washbasins, and a combined shower and toilet fashioned from white, tumbled marble.

The garden bathroom is characterised by an open-air rainshower beside the lily pond and waterfall. There is also a relaxing area with built-in seats and shelves in the garden bathroom complete with an outdoor bathtub. An external staircase leads up to Suite 5, the only upstairs bedroom at the villa, affording gorgeous views of the rice fields and river valley.

The bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and an ottoman upon a timber floor under a soaring roof. Behind the sleeping space is a dressing area complete with floating vanity unit with twin washbasins, an indoor shower and toilet and a built-in wardrobe. An ornately tiled outdoor bathtub is positioned upon a breezy balcony, where there is also a cushioned daybed. Additionally, there is an open-air shower and, to one side, a glassless window presents a wonderful view that guests can enjoy from a cozy window-seat.

Puri Bawana Kids’ Bedroom / Nanny’s Room
A staircase leads down under the Dining Pavilion to a small ‘spill-over’ room, which can sleep up to five kids. It is fitted with bunk beds and is also suitable for a children’s nanny. There is a bathroom next door with a toilet, shower and washbasin.

Puri Bawana Living Pavilion
The magnificent Living Pavilion presides over the property. It is flanked by a terrace laid with grass-edged Palimanan paving stones, and overlooks the swimming pool, terraced gardens and rice fields. This open-sided pavilion is modelled upon the traditional Balinese Wantilan, or village meeting place, with a soaring, two-tiered roof supported by pillars, complete with pendulous lanterns and ceiling fans above a mint-white sandstone floor. The expansive space is furnished with two comfortable sofas, ottomans, a coffee table, a decorative, antique Javanese daybed, and a pair of white coconut shell chairs with a small matching table. The Living Pavilion is linked to the rest of the villa by a covered, colonnaded walkway with black and white chequered tiles. Off the walkway is situated a guest washroom decorated with Indian stone tiles and accessed by a colourful, antique Balinese door.

Puri Bawana Dining Pavilion
The open-sided Dining Pavilion is elevated above a high buttresses composed of indigenous serai stone, portraying a geometric jigsaw of shapes. A long suar wood dining table seats up to 14 dinner guests. The pavilion is cooled by natural breezes and ceiling fans and commands fabulous views of the bordering rice fields.

Puri Bawana Kitchens
There are two fully equipped kitchens at Puri Bawana Estate servicing the villa, one is the service kitchen and the other is a state-of-the-art kitchen positioned next to the dining pavilion and linked by a large service bar. This immaculate, designer kitchen reveals a discriminating taste for functional beauty and cutting-edge style. Crafted in black marble with a central island, silver grey units and glassless shuttered windows, it is equipped with a hob, oven, wine fridge, coffee machine and other high tech appliances. There is even the provision of a sound system.

Puri Bawana TV & Entertainment Room
Also located under the Dining Pavilion, is the air-conditioned TV and Entertainment Room. The room is equipped with a ceiling fan, teak wall units, and a large satellite TV mounted upon the wall, complete with surround sound, a DVD/CD player, and a Wii Game System. The furnishings?two large sofas, a glass-topped antique coffee table and two ottomans?can be pushed back against the wall to create an impressive party space. In one corner is a bar that can double as a DJ’s nook. Glass doors open from the Entertainment Room onto a terrace with a pergola supported by serai stone pillars beside the pool deck. The swimming pool is 30 metres in length, incorporating a kids’ pool at one end. It is lined with rustic blue Java stone and the curved infinity edge follows the contour of the rice terraces. The Palimanan stone pool deck is furnished with sun loungers and there is an open-sided ‘bale’, relaxation pavilion, positioned within the pool and accessed by stepping stones. Additionally, a raised walkway leads to an elevated bale, a traditional lazy, breezy gazebo with a thatched roof, open sides and a cushioned floor. There is an outdoor dining table with seats for 8, that is often used for outdoor barbecues and casual daytime dining. This is the place to relax, contemplate and meditate, overlooking the river and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, butterflies and birds. A wide flat lawn planted with four palms is the ideal setting for parties, weddings and events. A pathway leads down to the river and the gardens spill out into the padi fields to a traditional pavilion designed for wedding ceremonies. There is also an herb garden and an environmentally-friendly waste water garden. If the timing is right, guests will have the opportunity to plant some rice. Many of the rice fields that surrounded the villa are part of the estate. On the far side of the river, a picturesque rice terrace is carved like an amphitheater into the contours of the land.

It features a warm timber floor and modern dark wood furnishings including a king size bed, softly cushioned chairs, an ottoman, a large wall mirror and an L-shaped desk in one corner. A large cabinet houses a 21-inch TV, together with a DVD and quality sound system. The interior décor showcases the chic signature style of Dean Kempnich, with an olive and deep cerise theme. The bed is dressed in sumptuous silk fabrics with an array of scatter cushions in toning shades. This picture of luxury is completed with funky cerise-pink lamps.

A spacious adjoining dressing room presents plenty of storage and hanging space, with fitted cupboards and large wall mirrors. There is also a safe deposit box.

The dressing room leads into an en-suite terrazzo-floored bathroom, characterized by a large terrazzo bathtub. Twin ceramic washbasins rest upon a terrazzo vanity unit and the toilet is positioned to one side. All of the guests’ needs have been considered with the installation of excellent lighting. At the far end of the bathroom is a walk-in shower boasting a semi-open air ambience and an abundance of natural light, due to the provision of an open area at the top and sides of the shower, which allows the cool breezes to circulate. The shower is complemented by a myriad of textures with a Palimanan stone and pebble floor, timber paneling, frosted glass, and a random rock wall.

Sliding glass doors open from the bedroom on to a stone verandah furnished with two cushioned chairs and a table. Sheltered by a roof, this shady nook is bordered by a hedge of bulrushes for privacy.

Children’s Bedroom with adjoining babysitter room

The second bedroom on the ground floor is suitable for children because it is adjoined by a small room designed to accommodate a babysitter. The babysitter room is furnished with cupboards and a bed.

The children’s room features twin mattresses resting upon a wide base. This air-conditioned room is also suitable for a couple, because the mattresses can be pushed together to create a double bed. The room features a wall-length desk, built-in shelf units, a timber floor, and a very private verandah accessed by sliding glass doors and located in the back corner of the villa’s walled garden. The verandah is furnished with two chairs and a table. The bedroom is also equipped with a 20-inch TV, DVD and sound system, and a safe deposit box. A dedicated dressing area features a large wall mirror and fitted cupboards. The en-suite terrazzo bathroom presents a vanity unit with a washbasin, toilet and walk-in shower, complete with tiled floor, random rock walls and frosted glass screens, which are open at the top to allow cross ventilation of the natural breezes.

Kitchen

The state-of-the art service kitchen is fully equipped with everything that the staffs need in order to prepare delicious meals. Located on the ground floor, it is fitted with gleaming appliances, black marble units, a central island, and a large oven with a six-burner gas hob. This expansive and impressive kitchen is also a professional facility for outside caterers to prepare lavish feasts for weddings, parties and special functions. A precious feature, rarely seen in Bali, is the electric food elevator, designed to convey food and other items from the kitchen to the dining room on the upper floor.

The kitchen area is also the location of the linen room, laundry, and staff rooms.

There is a guest washroom located on the ground floor close to the main entrance.

Living & Dining Room

The magnificent Living & Dining Room is the central focus of the villa; it is accessed by a grand flight of Palimanan stone steps leading up from the pool terrace, in addition to another staircase located near the front door. This long room is characterized by a polished wood floor with a terrazzo border under a soaring dark timber roof. Colourful local artwork adorns the walls and, at one end, sliding glass doors open onto a verandah with a gorgeous ocean view. As soon as these doors are opened, the room is filled with cool sea breezes accompanied by the melodious sound of the waves. A set of folding glass doors above the central staircase can be opened to increase the effects of the cross ventilation, and the room is also equipped with four pendulous steel ceiling fans. When the doors are closed, guests have the option of air-conditioned comfort.

The living area is on the seaward side of the room, furnished with a long sofa, scatter cushions, ottomans, a coffee table, an arching chrome standard lamp, and a dark wood cabinet housing a TV, DVD player and quality sound system.

More doors at the opposite end of the living and dining room lead out onto a large U-shaped stone deck, which wraps itself around the far side of the villa, more than doubling the space of the living and dining area, thereby making it a perfect venue for parties. One section of this deck is sheltered by a timber and clear polycarbonate roof, which provides shade while still allowing the natural light to shine through. This cool verandah is furnished with a circular table and chairs, ideal for casual alfresco dining. Another area is furnished with a large built-in cushioned daybed for relaxing, sleeping or sunbathing.

Bedrooms 3 & 4

The 3rd and 4th bedrooms are located on the upper floor, on the same level as the living and dining room. Furnished with queen size beds, desks and ottomans, these air-conditioned bedrooms feature wooden floors, and each follows an olive and chocolate colour theme. Each is equipped with a TV, DVD player and sound system, and safe deposit box. One room has a narrow balcony and the other boasts a large stone balcony overlooking the pool and garden. Both of the bedrooms, the balconies and the bathrooms boast glorious sea views. Each bedroom has a dressing area with built in storage, and each has an en-suite terrazzo bathroom equipped with a porcelain washbasin, a toilet, wall mirrors, and a walk in shower comprised of natural green tiles and frosted glass screens, open at the top to facilitate cross ventilation of the natural sea breezes.

These two bedrooms have an interconnecting door, located between the dressing areas. The door can be locked or left open according to guest’s needs.

Rooftop Verandah

A spiral staircase extends from the living room verandah up to a unique chill-out area located at roof level. Here, another breezy verandah is cooled by sea breezes and sheltered by a timber and clear polycarbonate roof. The view from here, of Bali’s dramatic coastline stretching all the way down to Uluwatu, is spectacular.

Villa Canggu is supported by a carefully selected team of highly trained, friendly staff who will do their best to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. The team is headed by a villa manager who will oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and is available to assist guests during their stay. The team also includes an in-house chef, butlers, housekeepers, gardeners, pool attendants and security guards operating on a 24-hour shift basis. The chef is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. The housekeepers fulfill all of the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge.
